How to Set Up Email on Android

A step-by-step guide to adding your Kwikweb-hosted email account to the Android Mail app — using either IMAP (recommended for multiple devices) or POP3.

Incoming Server mail.yourdomain.co.za IMAP 143 · POP3 110
Outgoing Server mail.yourdomain.co.za SMTP 587
Encryption None SSL not required

Check Your Password First

Before setting up your phone, confirm your email password is correct by logging into Webmail at mail.yourdomain.co.za. If login fails, reset your password via your Kwikweb Control Panel before proceeding. Reset it by following this guide before continuing.

ℹ️

Throughout this guide, replace yourdomain.co.za with your actual domain name. Your username is always your full email address — e.g. info@yourdomain.co.za.

⚠️

Android app screens may look different depending on your phone brand (Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc.) and Android version. The steps and field names below are the same — only the appearance may vary slightly.

Add Your Email Account to Android

IMAP keeps your email synced across all devices. Emails stay on the server — anything you read, delete, or move on your phone is reflected everywhere. Recommended if you check email on more than one device.

  1. 1

Open the Email or Mail app on your Android device. On some phones this may be labelled Samsung Email, HTC Mail, or similar.

  2. 2

On the Add Account screen, enter your full email address and password, then tap Manual Setup (do not tap Next/Auto as it may fail to detect settings).

    ⚠️

Forgotten your password? Reset it using this guide before continuing.

  3. 3

When prompted to choose an account type, select IMAP.

  4. 4

    Enter the Incoming server settings:

    • Username: your full email address — e.g. info@yourdomain.co.za
    • Password: your email password
    • IMAP server: mail.yourdomain.co.za
    • Security type: None
    • Port: 143

    Tap Next.

  5. 5

Enter the Outgoing (SMTP) server settings:

    • SMTP server: mail.yourdomain.co.za
    • Security type: None
    • Port: 587
    • Require sign-in: ✓ On
    • Username: your full email address
    • Password: your email password

    Tap Next.

  6. 6

Your device will attempt to connect and verify the settings. Wait for it to complete.

    ℹ️

If the connection test fails, double-check that you typed mail.yourdomain.co.za correctly and that the ports are exactly 143 (incoming) and 587 (outgoing).

  7. 7

Adjust Account Options as preferred (sync frequency, notifications, etc.), then tap Next.

  8. 8

Give the account a name for your reference (optional) and enter the display name you want to appear on outgoing emails. Tap Done.

All done! Your inbox will now sync and new emails will start downloading.

⚠️

POP3 downloads emails to your device and removes them from the server. If you access email on more than one device, use IMAP instead to keep everything in sync.

  1. 1

Open the Email or Mail app on your Android device.

  2. 2

Enter your full email address and password, then tap Manual Setup.

  3. 3

When prompted to choose an account type, select POP3.

  4. 4

    Enter the Incoming server settings:

    • Username: your full email address — e.g. info@yourdomain.co.za
    • Password: your email password
    • POP3 server: mail.yourdomain.co.za
    • Security type: None
    • Port: 110

    Tap Next.

  5. 5

Enter the Outgoing (SMTP) server settings:

    • SMTP server: mail.yourdomain.co.za
    • Security type: None
    • Port: 587
    • Require sign-in: ✓ On
    • Username: your full email address
    • Password: your email password

    Tap Next.

  6. 6

Wait while your settings are verified. Adjust Account Options (sync frequency, notifications) as preferred, then tap Next.

  7. 7

Enter an optional account name and the display name for outgoing emails, then tap Done.

All done! Your emails will now download to your device.
